Who We Are
We’re a small, experienced two-person team with deep roots in college admissions, each bringing more than a decade of experience to the students and families we support. Together, we’ve reviewed over 12,000 applications, served in five admissions offices on both coasts, and guided students from every background through this process. By design, we keep our team small so every family meets and gets to know their student’s counselor before deciding if we’re the right fit.
One of our counselors spent nearly five years as an Assistant Director of Admissions at USC (9% acceptance rate), reviewing thousands of applications and shaping multiple incoming classes. A proud UCLA graduate, the most applied to university in the country, he earned a double major before completing a master’s degree in higher education. Today, he oversees first-year admissions at a private California university, staying closely connected with admissions officers nationwide and attending national conferences. This ongoing, insider perspective keeps our guidance grounded in what’s working now, not just based on what used to work, but where admissions is heading.
Our other counselor was admitted to UC Berkeley, not because of perfect stats, but because his story came through in a way that was impossible to ignore. His application allowed the admissions officer to picture him as part of the incoming class, envisioning how he would fit and the value he’d bring to campus. A graduate of Berkeley’s Applied Mathematics program, ranked third nationally, he knows firsthand how to stand out in a competitive admissions landscape. His application wasn’t just read; it was felt. That’s our approach and our goal for every student we work with: to help students craft applications that are honest, compelling, and uniquely their own, so admissions officers can clearly envision how they would fit into the incoming class and the value that they’d bring.
Our Results
We keep our caseload intentionally small so every student receives the time, attention, and care their application deserves. Our process is hands-on, collaborative, and flexible, and we never move forward with any idea or piece of work unless the student is completely happy with it. Sessions are never rushed, and we adapt to students’ schedules, often meeting late into the night if that’s when they do their best thinking. We both confer before and after each session, so that every student benefits from the combined insight of two experienced counselors. Our philosophy is simple: to be the counselors we wish we’d had when we applied to college.
And the results speak for themselves. In the most recent admissions cycle, the Class of 2029, 100% of our students were admitted to their first-choice school, including two who came off the waitlist, and since our founding, 87% have been admitted to their first or second choice. Many families believe the key is chasing perfect GPAs and “checking boxes”, so they end up following the same path as everyone else. The problem is, that path leads to generic dispassionate essays that blend into the pile and, too often, rejection letters. Our students succeed because of authentic, well-crafted stories that allow admissions officers to clearly picture them on campus and understand the value they’d bring.
