Our Approach
1. Crafting a clear, compelling narrative
Our approach is to craft a narrative that showcases who your students are beyond their grades and how they’ll add value to the colleges they’re applying to. When a college is admitting students, they’re thinking about the diverse and dynamic class they’re building, and they don’t want all business majors or athletes. Our method is to craft a narrative about who your student truly is and demonstrate how they would uniquely fit into and enrich that class. Most students approach college essays as if they were academic papers, but they’re not essays; they are personal statements, or more specifically, short stories with a compelling message about your student and their genuine self.
2. Showing, not telling
We emphasize showing rather than telling, so admissions officers don’t just read their application; they feel it. Your student will have very few words to tell their story, so we focus on crafting narratives that show who they are, allowing colleges to not only understand but truly feel their presence and envision how they would thrive in their community.
3. Collaboration and student ownership
We collaborate closely with our students, never pushing a narrative or idea they don’t agree with. Because the truth is, no student can write a compelling essay about something they don’t genuinely believe in. That’s why we help students tell stories that are honest, meaningful, and fully their own. When students believe in their stories, others do too.
What Sets Us Apart
1. A small caseload, by design
We work with a limited number of students so we can give each one the time and attention they deserve. Whether we’re brainstorming ideas for their application or giving feedback on their essays, we believe this work should never be rushed. Great storytelling takes space to think, revise, and reflect, and we make sure our students have that.
2. We’re here when you need us
Because we work with fewer students, we’re also able to be responsive. Questions don’t sit unanswered. We reply the same day, and if something’s urgent, students can always text us directly. This process can feel overwhelming at times, and we want our students to know they’re never navigating it alone.
3. Scheduling that fits your life
We also know that students are busy with school, activities, jobs, and everything in between. That’s why we stay flexible with scheduling, meeting when it works best for them. Whether it’s after school, on weekends, or in the evenings, we’re here when they need us most.
