Beyond the Transcript: We See the Whole You.
Acceptances for the 2024-2025 Cycle

Why Us?
Your student is more than their transcript. Our approach is to craft a narrative that showcases who your student is beyond their grades and how they’ll add value to the colleges they’re applying to. We emphasize showing rather than telling, so admissions officers don’t just read their application; they feel it. We collaborate closely with our students, never pushing a narrative or idea they don’t agree with. Because the truth is, no student can write a compelling essay about something they don’t genuinely believe in. That’s why we help students tell stories that are honest, meaningful, and fully their own. When students believe in their stories, others do too.
We’ve seen how powerful this approach can be. One of our recent students was admitted to every top UC, including Berkeley and UCLA, without traditional leadership roles and with just three AP classes. Another earned a spot in his top-choice engineering program with a 3.5 GPA and without having taken AP Calculus. There are never guarantees in college admissions, but time and again, we’ve seen that a thoughtful, authentic application can open doors that numbers alone can’t.
Our Team
We’re a small, experienced team with over fifteen years in college admissions, including roles at five universities across both coasts. We’ve reviewed more than 12,000 applications from students in 40 states, spanning every kind of background and interest. One of our team members previously served as an Assistant Director of Admissions at USC and now leads first-year admissions at a private university in California. This firsthand perspective keeps us closely tuned in to how admissions is evolving and how students nationwide are shaping their applications. With degrees from top schools like Berkeley and UCLA, we know this process inside and out, both as applicants and as decision-makers. Our priority is to help your student craft applications they feel confident in and proud of. That is why we work with only a limited number of students each year, so we can be fully present and supportive, especially when it matters most.

Our process is comprehensive and tailored to each student. We help with everything from building a thoughtful college list to understanding financial aid, selecting majors, and crafting standout applications.
We usually begin with the college search. Many students come to us with schools already in mind, but we expand their list with options they may not have considered. We always base our suggestions on what they’re looking for and where they’ll thrive. Once we’ve landed on a list they feel excited about, we walk them through the financial aid landscape to make sure they understand their options.
From there, we dive into the application itself. We start by unpacking their academic history and extracurriculars so we can see where their strengths shine and where their story lives. Before writing a single word, we spend time exploring what they want colleges to really understand about them. Then we work together to come up with a few possible narratives that reflect those values. Students explore each one to see what feels most honest and meaningful to them before deciding which direction to take.
When it’s time to write, students bring drafts to our sessions, and we work together to refine their essays. We always review their work ahead of time and often have a second pair of eyes read through it as well. In each session, we focus on cutting the fluff, strengthening the structure, and making sure their voice comes through clearly. At the end of every meeting, students leave with clear next steps and realistic deadlines they’ve agreed to so they stay on track without feeling overwhelmed.
We keep track of their overall process and every deadline that they need to meet. Our process is designed to give them plenty of breathing room. never rushed or last-minute. With thoughtful planning and steady support, students have the space to do their best work and feel proud of what they create.

Most high school students don’t have everything figured out, and that’s completely normal. Interests can shift over time, and many students end up changing their major once they get to college. Still, having a general sense of direction during the application process can make a big difference. When a student has some clarity, even if it’s just a starting point, it helps shape a stronger and more confident application. It’s much easier to tell a compelling story when there’s a clear sense of purpose.
If a student isn’t sure what they want to study, we’re here to help them explore. Through thoughtful conversations, we look at what excites them, whether that’s a subject they enjoy, an idea they want to dig into, or something they’re just curious about. From there, we help them find programs and schools that align with those interests. It’s not about having every answer right away. It’s about asking good questions and finding a path that feels meaningful to them.

Finding the right college fit is one of the most important steps in this process.
It’s easy to focus on rankings or name recognition, but the best school for one student might not be the right fit for another. One of our team members studied Applied Mathematics at UC Berkeley, a program ranked among the top in the country. He thrived there, but he also saw classmates struggle with the intense academic environment and competitive atmosphere. Every student is different, which is why we help them look beyond the surface. Together, we explore what truly matters to them, from student support services and campus culture to housing, food, location, and career connections. The goal is not just to get in. It is to find a place where they will feel supported, challenged, and excited to grow.

College admissions is always evolving. What worked one year might not have the same impact the next, which is why staying current matters.
We keep a close eye on changes in the field, but more importantly, we have someone on our team who leads undergraduate enrollment at a private university in California. They regularly attend national conferences, collaborate with colleagues at other institutions, and speak with students every day. This gives us real-time insight into emerging trends, shifting expectations, and how students are presenting themselves across the country. It helps us guide students with advice that is not only thoughtful, but grounded in what is happening right now.

Starting early makes all the difference. By the time senior year arrives, most of what will shape a college application, grades, activities, and experiences, is already in place. That’s why we love working with students earlier in high school, helping them build a foundation that goes beyond simply checking boxes. We’ve seen plenty of students who did everything “right” on paper still fall short of their top choices, while others with less conventional paths stood out because their stories were genuine and deeply felt.
Our goal is to help students grow into narratives that are truly their own. We create personalized success plans that reflect their interests and are tailored to the opportunities at their high school and in their community, from classes and clubs to jobs and local programs. Together, we shape a path that feels both authentic and exciting, so when application season comes, they have a story that admissions officers don’t just read, but remember. When students follow activities just to pad a resume, it often leads to less engagement, more burnout, and ultimately fewer meaningful experiences to write about. But when they pursue what genuinely interests them, they grow in ways that are richer, more fulfilling, and far easier to capture in a compelling application.

We don’t believe in rigid packages or minimum commitments; every student is different and at a different stage of the process, so our goal is simply to give them the support they need, when they need it. We also know how expensive college counseling can be, and we want our support to be as accessible as possible. None of us had counselors when we applied to college, and we remember how confusing and overwhelming it all felt. Having someone knowledgeable to guide us would have made a big difference.
That’s why we do things a little differently. We only bill for the time we’re actively working with your student, whether that’s during a session or when reviewing their materials beforehand (usually about a quarter of an hour, always with input from two counselors so we can offer more thoughtful feedback). Outside of that, if your student has a quick question and reaches out, there’s no charge. We want them to feel comfortable asking for help without ever worrying about the price. It’s all part of making sure they have the steady, reliable guidance they deserve, every step of the way.
